Back to School with Stampin' Up! Crafty Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog and thank you for stopping by as you either start your Blog Hop journey with me or you hopped on over from another blog.

For this month’s Blog Hop for the Crafty Blog Hop, the theme we were given was Back to School.  Sadly both of my girls have all grown up as they are now aged twenty-two and almost twenty nine years of age, however I have been bless with three gorgeous granddaughters aged nearly one, nearly four and nearly eleven.

For this Crafty Blog Hop, when the topic was released, I knew instantly which photographs I wanted to use, I decided to use my eldest Granddaughter Alexa (a.k.a. Lexi-Lu) photo from when her school celebrated World Book Day back in February and she decided to dress up as Hermione from Harry Potter, I was so happy as we are both very big Harry Potter fans and I knew I would look forward to scrapping those photos.

I instantly found the base sheet that I wanted to use in the Gilded Autumn Speciality Designer Series Paper pack, it was the reverse side of an embossed sheet but it was perfect for what I needed.  It matched the colour theme really well.

Having cut the swirl out from Stampin' Up! Stitched Shapes Dies I applied the colour to the swirl with sponge daubers and both Cherry Cobbler and Bumblebee inks to add colour.  I also cut out an additional swirl and used it to create a stencil so I could also dauber directly onto the patterned paper.

For the title I really wanted to mix it up so by using the Playful Alphabet dies it allowed me to do this with ease.  At some point I had the epiphany about how to create the ‘Hogwarts’ word of the title, I cut a strip of Cherry Cobbler card and then a thinner strip of Bumblebee card on top ready to die-cut the letters in the Gryffindor house colours.

I truly enjoyed crafting this scrapbook page and I am pleased as a result of me joining Blog Hops that it is really helping me to find my mojo and craft for a purpose.
